On March 29 we asked our readers to vote for the acts they feel are most deserving to win Eurovision 2015. As of April 11 at 15:00 GMT, we had collected a total of 55,739 votes. At the moment seven acts have managed to crack 1,500 votes. Leading the way is Albania’s Elhaida Dani, the winner of The Voice of Italy. She’s earned an impressive 10,564 votes, or around one in every five, for her song “I’m Alive”. Her recent acoustic performance was on point, and she’s proven to be very charismatic ininterviews. Elhaida: You are alive and our readers are loving you!
Georgia’s Nina Sublatti, who silenced many of her critics with an amazing live performance in Riga on April 10, sits in second place. Her revamped “Warrior” has won a lot of people over and she increasingly looks like a threat, having earned 5,226 votes, or more than 9%. Have you submitted a design for her tattoo contest?
Italy’s Il Volo, who have been slaying in our search for Eurovision’s Next Top Male Model, are third with 3,120 votes, or 5.6%. That puts them ahead of Spain’s Edurne, whose first live performance of “Amanecer” drew mixed reactions, and Sweden’s Måns Zelmerlöw, whose song “Heroes” recently broke 10 million streams on Spotify.
Ireland’s Molly Sterling and Estonia’s Elina & Stig are the only other acts to earn more than 1,500 votes.
At the other end of the spectrum we have Austria, Montenegro, Denmark, San Marino, Cyprus, Finland and Moldova. These acts all have fewer than 700 votes each.
You can see the current standings below. This poll will remain open until May 22 — the day before this year’s Eurovision 2015 final. You can vote here if you haven’t already done so.
